Chakra means wheel or vortex of energy. They process and distribute the Vital Life Energy (prana) that enters us through the breath. The chakras transform this energy into frequencies we can understand - emotions and physical sensations.

Prana moves through each energy center, which governs our physical, emotional and spiritual health. When chakras are opened and balanced, we experience joy & contentment. When unbalanced, these feelings are blocked by stress and fear.

Location - two inches below navel - seat of vital force
Color - Orange

Main Issue - Emotional balance/Sexuality

Balanced - Feelings of empathy, Passion for life

Unbalanced - Shallow relationships, Lack of creativity, Feelings of powerlessness

• Manipura (mah-nee-poor-rah)
Location - Solar plexus - seat of ego and intuition
Color - Yellow
Bija Mantra - Ram (rum)
Element - Fire
Gland - Pancreas
Sense - Sight
Yantra - Inverted Red Triangle

Main issue - Personal power, Self will

Balanced - Ability to connect & commit to relationships, Will power, Leadership skills, Self acceptance

Unbalanced - Feeling overwhelmed, Inability to make decisions, Need for external validation, Defensive, Hunger for power

In relationships, there needs to be a connection from this chakra as well as the heart chakra in order for a long term commitment. The energy of this chakra is that of commitment and trust.

Color - Blue

Main Issue - Communication, Self Expression

Balanced - Hearing what is not being said, Voicing the truth, Good communication skills

When this Chakra is open we can see beyond earthly goals and attachments which allows for the ability to follow our personal dharma (life path).

Balanced - Experience of all as one, Bliss, Pure consciousness, Enlightenment

Unbalanced - Doubt and denial of spiritual reality, Strong ego boundaries, Lack of confidence in ones intuition

This chakra allows us to achieve spiritual openness inviting this spiritual energy into our mind and all of the bodies. It is often depicted as an open lotus flower.
