Kid Yoga Supplemental Training Course
Teaching yoga and mindfulness to children is a joyful experience, but it requires essential knowledge to ensure their safety. In this course, you’ll gain a deep understanding of child anatomy in physical, physiological, and emotional aspects. We break down these concepts into easily understandable formats, empowering you with the confidence and expertise to deliver a safe, informative, and most importantly, fun yoga and mindfulness experience for children and adolescents. - Certified Yoga Teachers: You will have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach yoga to children and adolescents.

Anatomy

You will gain an understanding of the anatomy of growing children, allowing you to develop safe movement practices and prevent injuries. You will learn about the unique physical characteristics of young bodies and how to modify yoga poses and sequences to fit the child’s needs. By applying this knowledge, participants can create nurturing and safe yoga experiences.


Breathing effects

Understand how breathwork can positively impact the developing bodies and minds of young practitioners. We will explore the intricate connection between breath and the nervous system, learning how different breathing techniques can calm the mind, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve focus and concentration. You will gain insights into the ways breathwork can regulate emotions, enhance self-regulation skills, and promote overall well-being in children and adolescents.
Meditation Benefits

You will learn the benefits that meditation can offer to the brain, nervous system, and immune system of children and adolescents. Through an exploration of scientific research and practical techniques, participants gain a deeper understanding of how regular meditation practice can positively impact the mental and physical well-being of young individuals. You will learn how meditation cultivates a calm and focused mind, reduces stress and anxiety, enhances emotional regulation, and improves cognitive function.


Sequencing

You will learn how to create intelligent sequences that prioritize safety and fun. Understanding the importance of sequencing in a child’s yoga practice, trainees learn how to structure and design yoga classes that cater to the needs of children and adolescents. You will gain insights into age-appropriate poses, modifications, and progressions, ensuring that students can practice yoga safely and effectively.
Trauma-Informed Language

You will gain an understanding of the impact of trauma on young individuals and learn how to create a safe and supportive space through your choice of language. You will be equipped with the tools and techniques to communicate with sensitivity, compassion, and awareness, ensuring that your words promote healing, empowerment, and emotional well-being

Lastly, you will learn the importance of making the learning experience fun and engaging for students of all ages. Participants will learn creative techniques to infuse playfulness, joy, and excitement into their yoga classes for children and adolescents. We will explore a wide range of games, activities, and props that can be incorporated to keep students actively engaged throughout the session.

Alexis Espinoza-Arrubla
500-hour RYT, Certified Kids Yoga Teacher

Alexis Espinoza-Arrubla, 500-hour RYT, Certified Kids Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master has been interested in the wellbeing of children for many years.
She has an MS in Social Research and a B.A. in Sociology and Economics from Hunter College. Her post graduate work focused on youth and how the intersection of socio economics, race, ethnicity, culture, immigration status in the United States, gender and sexuality correlates to identity among youth. This work is very close to her heart and plays an integral part in her teachings.
In addition, Alexis is a Certified Sound Healer and a Certified Mindfulness Instructor. She has written her first children’s book titled ‘The Mystery of River Nieves: Anabel and The Earth Elders‘.
